Distinguished Dietitian of the Year (DDY)

This is the top award given by KSAND. The recipient should demonstrate involvement at the local, state, and national levels of Academy, leadership, and advancement in the field of dietetics. Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year (RYDY)

This award recognizes the competence and activities of younger dietitians in the Academy. Members eligible to receive this honor should be 35 years of age or younger and demonstrate leadership qualities and performance in legislation, research, public relations, education, community outreach, management, or other areas related to the profession. Their contributions on the job and in the community will merit this recognition.

Emerging Dietetic Leader (EDL)

This award recognizes the competence and activities of members, regardless of their age, who have made distinctive contributions early in their careers to the Academy. Members who receive this honor support the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the public through demonstrating leadership in legislation, research, education, management, or other areas related to the profession.

Recognized Dietetic Technician of the Year (RDTY)

The Academy recognizes the professional contributions of technicians and encourages their continued participation in the community and association activities. Award recipients demonstrate leadership qualities and performance in associations or their employment through education, clinical nutrition, foodservice management, public relations, career guidance, and legislation.

Golden Wheat Award

This award recognizes a Kansas business (or individual) whose actions align with KSAND mission, “To Accelerate Improvements in State-wide Health and Well-being Through Food and Nutrition”. This business or person highlights the importance of nutrition and health, improves health care by providing goods and/or services that benefit Kansans, and hires or promotes dietitians as the resource for sound nutrition information.

Mentor Award

This award recognizes an individual who has been instrumental in teaching and mentoring food service managers, registered dietitian nutritionists, nutrition and dietetic technicians, or food service employees in the workplace.  This person highlights the importance of nutrition and health in their organization, maintains professionalism in business practices, and promotes safety and sanitation practices in the workplace.
