The Kansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (KSAND), formerly known as the Kansas Dietetic Association, serves hundreds of dietetic professionals who strive to optimize the nutrition, health, and well-being of Kansans. We are an affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the largest U.S. organization of food and nutrition professionals.

In 2017, we celebrated our 80th Anniversary as a nonprofit organization. Our members include registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) and dietetic technicians working in diverse settings. Examples of practice areas include community, government and healthcare institutions, research, education, food service management, business and industry, students, entrepreneurial business, and media.

The value of the the dietetic profession is promoted among members through partnerships with the KSAND Foundation, state districts, practice groups, other organizations, and sponsors. Our mission is to accelerate improvements in state-wide health and well-being through food and nutrition with a vision of a state where all people thrive through the transformative power of food and nutrition. Ongoing professional development, innovative business practices, and engagement in nutrition-related public policy further supports this vision for our members and in our communities.

A Message from the KSAND President

On behalf of the Kansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (KSAND) Board of Directors and 500-plus members, welcome to the KSAND website. KSAND is an affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which is the largest organization of food and nutrition professionals in the world.

KSAND’s mission is to help Kansans improve their health using evidence-based nutrition care. We are all climbing out of the pandemic and trying to find our new normal. The 2022-2023 KSAND Board of Directors will be strategically working through issues and opportunities using a five-year plan of work put in place from our previous leaders. Being associated with energetic colleagues who have similar interests and goals helps us all get better together. Our resources are many and excellent. We have evidence to back up our recommendations and translate the science in practical ways.

Volunteer time in professional organizations has made my job more enriching. It has been a priceless investment that has led to connections with interesting people and opportunities I never knew existed. The KSAND Board of Directors welcomes you to find your passion and engage in committees and events or even serve on the Board. We are only as strong as our members – including students! If this sounds interesting, let’s talk! Contact me at president@eatrightks.org.
