Beyond Fear: How Psychological Safety Fuels Growth and Performance

Provided on behalf of the Kansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Dietitians in Business and Communications DPG

December 17 @ 6:30 pm 7:30 pm CST

Psychological safety is the foundation of high-performing, innovative, and resilient teams—yet it is often overlooked in healthcare, where the stakes are highest. Based on Amy Edmondson’s The Fearless Organization: Creating Psychological Safety in the Workplace for Learning, Innovation, and Growth (2018), this session explores what psychological safety is—and why it matters. In healthcare, a lack of psychological safety can lead to preventable errors, poor communication, and disengagement, while safe and open environments enable staff to speak up about concerns, share ideas, and learn from mistakes—ultimately protecting patients and improving care outcomes.

Participants will read The Fearless Organization book, complete quizzes, discussions and other interactive games, then attend the live virtual webinar on Dec 17, 2025 to learn how fear-based cultures hinder decision-making and collaboration, and discover practical strategies leaders and teams can use to create environments where individuals feel safe to raise their voices. By the end of the session, attendees will be equipped with tools to foster openness, trust, and collaboration, strengthening both team performance and patient safety.
