Some RDNs may call themselves “nutritionists,” but not all nutritionists are registered dietitians. The RDN credential can only be used by practitioners who have met specific educational and professional requirements. For more information, visit Qualifications of a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)

A: Food and nutrition professionals who are members of the Kansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (KSAND) practice in communities throughout Kansas. These members have expertise in food and nutrition and often specialize in practice areas for specific needs. KSAND is an affiliate organization of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Academy hosts an RDN Finder that links consumers, physicians, food manufacturers and restaurateurs, to name a few, with nutrition practitioners in a given geographical area. Participating members provide services on a fee-for-service basis. To obtain contact information and an online guide follow the link below:

Additionally, KSAND has compiled it’s own KSAND Dietitian Referral Directory to assist physicians and other healthcare professionals who wish to refer patients for Medical Nutrition Therapy to a Kansas or Kansas City Metro registered dietitian nutritionist.

[/fusion_toggle][fusion_toggle title=”Q: How do I get a Kansas Diet Manual?” open=”no”]

A: The Kansas Diet Manual is no longer in print. KSAND recommends use of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Manual® (NCM) which is an Internet-based diet manual and professional practice manual for registered dietitian nutritionists; nutrition and dietetics technicians, registered; and allied health professionals. NCM is purchased by annual subscription and gives you online access to evidence- and knowledge-based nutrition information that keeps you current and compliant. View the NCM Table of Contents and the 2016 Update Summary.
