Your Help Is Needed: Letters of Support or Testimony

The KSAND Advocacy Team has been working behind the scenes on the Licensure Compact for Dietitians (HB 2778) – an ACT concerning health and healthcare; relating to dietitians; enacting the dietitian compact to provide interstate practice privileges.

This Bill doesn’t currently have a hearing date, but the Team expects a tight turnaround, and is in need of testimonies and/or letters of support for the Bill.

While KSAND anticipates that testimony will be submitted by the Council of State Governments (CSG), as the Academy worked with this organization to develop the model dietitian compact bill, if you or someone you know in Kansas is also licensed in another state, please consider submitting a letter.

How to Submit a Letter

  1. Review the Social Work Compact testimony letters to get an idea for the type of letter needed
  2. Read the Licensure Compact for Dietitians Bill
  3. Write your letter/testimonial
    • Include “RE: Proponent – HB 2778 Dietitian Licensure Compact” at the top of the letter
    • Below the “RE” include either “In-Person” or “Written only testimony” pending your plans to either attend or not attend the hearing
    • Please also make note if this letter is from you, or from an Organization (if Organization, please use appropriate letterhead and be sure to have permission to do so)
  4. If you would like a KSAND Advocacy Team Member to review your letter, please feel free to send it to both these emails: jordanedmunds1992@gmail.com and carol.gilmore@att.net.
  5. When your letter is complete, please send it to Jordan, who will send it along to the Committee Assistant.
